Hi, I’m James Smith.
If you’ve ever stood in the middle of a kitchen store, staring at a wall of air fryers or espresso machines, wondering which one is actually worth your money, you’re exactly who I built this site for.
I’m a former chef, a lifelong kitchen obsessive, and the founder and lead product tester here at US Kitchen Nook (https://uskitchennook.com/).
Where This All Started
I spent years working in professional kitchens before I ever thought about writing reviews. In that world, equipment isn’t a hobby—it’s a tool. A bad knife slows down service. A weak burner throws off an entire dish. You learn quickly that the difference between “good enough” and “genuinely great” usually comes down to details most people never see on a spec sheet.
When I left the line and started cooking at home, I noticed something frustrating. The internet was flooded with kitchen product content, but most of it felt like it was written by someone who had never actually boiled water. Endless lists. Copy-pasted specs. “Best of” roundups that clearly hadn’t been tested by a human being. I wanted real answers: Does this thing actually work? Is it worth the counter space? Will it last longer than a year?
So I started buying, testing, and comparing gear myself. That side project became US Kitchen Nook.
What I Actually Do Here
I don’t just read product listings and rewrite bullet points. I run appliances through real-world use—morning coffee routines, weeknight dinners, weekend meal prep, and the kind of messy, repeated cooking that exposes whether a product is built to last or built to look good in a photo.
My process is simple:
- I compare the specs that actually matter (wattage, capacity, materials, warranty, and long-term reliability).
- I test the functionality in a normal home kitchen, not a staged studio.
- I track pricing and seasonal offers so you know when a deal is genuinely a deal.
- I only recommend products I would use in my own kitchen or feel comfortable buying for a family member.
If something is flawed, overpriced, or just not worth it, I’ll tell you. That’s the whole point.
Why Trust Me?
I’m not a faceless review site. I’m one person who cares—maybe a little too much—about kitchen gear. My background as a chef means I look at appliances the way a professional looks at tools: performance first, hype last. And because I’ve worked with everything from commercial ranges to budget countertop gadgets, I know where corners get cut and where spending a little more actually pays off.
A Quick Note on How I Make Money
US Kitchen Nook is reader-supported. When you buy through links on my site, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That’s how I keep the lights on and keep testing gear. I’ll always be upfront about this, and it never changes my recommendations. If a product doesn’t earn its place in my kitchen, it doesn’t earn a spot on the site.
Let’s Make Your Kitchen the Best Room in the House
Grab a cup of coffee, poke around the reviews, and let’s find the gear that actually makes cooking easier, faster, and more enjoyable.
If you ever have a question about a product or a suggestion for something I should test, my inbox is open: JamesSmith@uskitchennook.com.
